Petrified Wood Forest is located on Route 66. It bisects the park in the north end at the rim of the Painted Desert. Traveling west, the road gently rises along the mesas and levels out along the edge of the most picturesque portion of the Painted Desert. Straightening out, it heads out across the grasslands toward Holbrook. |
